Summer slips through your fingers, and we hadn't gone camping for a long time- Steve was working some crazy hours and it wasn't looking like he could go camping- so we just decided that we would go without him. A little crazy on my part, and I was about to back out when it took me 7 hours to get ready to leave- but once we rolled into our camping spot- I'm so glad we did... I love Tahoe- and can't wait to go back :)
This isn't Tahoe- just a hike we took- and I had to squeeze it in somewhere!
After we put up our tent, cooked and made dinner- we had to memorialize this! We did it!!
This lake is absolutely stunning- cold- but stunning. Throwing rocks in, playing by the seashore. Super super relaxing.
I couldn't take any strenuous hikes for obvious reasons, so luckily came across this amazing hike- the Angora lakes trail- talk about breathtaking. The drive is reason enough to go there. I am so glad I didn't get lost because you find yourself driving into nowhere, up and across mountain peaks and then you have to cross your fingers that there is a parking space for you- because if there isn't, you've got to turn around and go home. The hike can't be more than 2 miles- and you pass two small lakes and get to the final one where there is a lemonade/lunch stand, and little cabins around a small lake where people paddleboard, jump off of rocks, swim, lounge. It was fabulous.
After 3 days on our own- Steve was able to join us! Whohoo! We took the kids to a little place where kids can catch their own fish- the owner says he doesn't even have to feed them, because from the day they get put into the lake, they usually get caught in about a week! Poor fishies.
The worms were "way more cool" than the fish!
We took these all home, grilled and ate them up in 10 minutes- soooooo yummy.
And finally, saw a bear!!! She/he was gorgeous- frolicking in this golden field.
