Time does seem to slip faster and faster through our fingers- especially when you measure it by how fast your kids grow. Maddie had a great year with her teacher Mrs. Pereira and her best friends. She continues to excel at reading (and reads 1 book a day it seems like), great at math, is a natural leader (sort of bossy!), such a great help at home, and super nice/empathetic/thoughtful to everyone. Although she is pretty much perfect, she has begun the tween years of giving her mom attitude and lots of eye rolling- but it comes with the territory :) But that's ok- because we love her so much and can't wait to see what she does- she will be amazing.
Her science project- comparing the rising levels of different muffins varying the egg substitutes.
She really really really wanted to get her ears pierced, so I finally took her to Claire's! She was looking a little nervous to say the least. We sat her down and started measuring her earlobes, marking them and then started with the first hole. She wasn't looking so good and holding back tears! I waited for the tech to give her a second hole, and then she tried to hold it together by standing up really fast and she started to look as if she was going to pass out! I pushed her into the chair and gave her some smelling salts- she quickly woke up and started gagging and regretting getting her ears pierced! "Dad was right, I shouldn't have gotten them! I hate them, I want to take them out." It was dramatic to say the least, but after about a month, we have all settled down and I think she likes them. Now we just need to go earring shopping!
Maddie began her love of the theatre this year! She tried out for the school play and landed the part of Lead Crow and Ozian and smoke machine master! This is the beginning of many more plays to come.
An end of the year play date at the park.
Maddie as Mazy in Horton Hatches the Egg- she was awesome! We spent many walks memorizing her lines- she is a natural :)
One of her best friends Riley!
